Life and times of Goldie Harvey

Born Susan Oluwabimpe Filani, her late mum, Olabisi Betty, was a former Managing Director of the defunct National Bank, while her dad also retired as a Managing Director of Access Bank.
As the first child in a family of four, she took very active roles in all church activities – drama, choir and bible classes.
Her music career remotely kicked off at the University of Sunderland where she was admitted to study Business Management.
Upon her return to Nigeria in the mid year 2000, she met Cool FM’s On Air Personality, Mannie, during the course of trying to build her date reminder services.
Mannie introduced her to the industry players.
Then, she met renowned producer, OjB Jezreel, who would produce her first single, Komole.
This was followed by three other singles: Spin me, Nothing Has Changed and Shift, which all formed part of her compilation CD.
The video for ‘Say My Name’ received Best Pop Costume at the Nigeria Music Video Awards in December 2012.
She was also honoured with a special recognition awards at Top Naija Music Awards same month.
Goldie was signed on to Kennis Music in 2010.
A few months later, she released her acclaimed debut title: Gold.
Her hit songs included You Know It, Jawo Jawo and Don’t Touch My Body.
During her life time, she received a total of 10 awards including Exqusite Lady Of The Year, Best Female Artiste Award and City people Best Female Artiste Of the Year.
She has also been inducted as a Federal Celebrity Special Marshal along side other notable Nigerian celebrities.
The Law Students Society of the Obafemi Awolowo University recently issued her an award for musical excellence under the category of Best Female Artiste of the year.
