IMT student dies in hotel swimming pool

A student of the Institute of Management Technology, Enugu, simply identified as Chidera, died mysteriously in a pool on February 7, 2013.
One Prince Nwokorie, 24, an engineering student of IMT, organised a birthday party at the Prefab area of Owerri, Imo State where Chidera was said to have been present.
But he later died in the swimming pool of the hotel.
It was gathered that an unnamed friend of Nwokorie invited Chidera to the party.
The guests, in high mood, moved to the pool side of the hotel from the hall where the event was holding.
Whielt eh celebration was on, with alcohol served, others did not notice that Chidera had already entered the pool.
The guest noticed that a person was struggling in the water and quickly called the attention of others, but unfortunately the hotel had no pool attendant.
It was gathered that two of the guests jumped into the pool and pulled Childera out.
They performed the first aid on him and then rushed him to the Aladinma Hospital at Aladinma, Owerri.
Strangely, the guests said the security man at Aladinma Hospital did not allow them to enter the hospital as he claimed that the doctors and nurses were not around.
The guests made further frantic effort as they drove Chidera to the next hospital where the nurse there also refused to accept the victim, ordering them to go to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.
It was at the Federal Medical Centre that a doctor performed tests and confirmed that Chidera was dead.
The corpse was moved back to the hotel where the police from the Fire Service Station were invited.
The police arrested six of the guests.
The hotel manager and receptionists fled when they learnt that the police were investigating the case.
It was gathered that the police are investigating to find out if someone pushed Chidera into the pool.
