The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, has approved the appointment of the former Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, as the Director of Defence Information.
Olukolade formally took over on Tuesday from Colonel Mohammed Yerima.
Olukolade, until the new appointment, was a Staff Officer at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
The new DDI is an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State and attended training at the Defence Information School in the United States of America.
Olukolade holds a Bachelors’ Degree from the University of Ife, Masters degree from the University of Lagos, and a Post Graduate Diploma from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.
A statement from the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, said that “having served previously as the Director of Army Public Relations and one time Spokesman of the ECOMOG Force in Liberia and Sierra-Leone, the new Defence spokesman is expected to utilize his experience in the management of defence information as he coordinates with other services to ensure a good flow of information to the public.”
