Dana's licence suspended again

Dana, which licence’s suspension was recently lifted, did not fly on Sunday (today).
Passengers who had bought the airline’s ticket to Abuja from Lagos were shocked on getting to the counter only to be told the airline was not flying.
None of the staff on duty had any explanation to offer the passengers.
The staff said that was the message passed down to them by the management of the airline.
The image maker of the airline, Tony Usiademen, was said to have on Sunday confirmed that the airline’s flying permit had, again, been suspended by the government.
Details of the offence of the airline were still sketchy as at press time.
Usiademen confirmed this in his statement.
He said: “We regret to announce the temporary suspension of our flight operations following a directive from the Ministry of Aviation through the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority on Saturday, 16th March, 2013; No specific reason was given for the action.
“A meeting is, however, scheduled between the management of Dana Air, the Ministry of Aviation and the NCAA on Monday 18th March and we will update you as we get more information.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you on board again shortly.”
The airline’s licence was initially suspended after one of its flight from Abuja to Lagos crashed in Lagos, killing all 153 persons on board and several others on the ground.
A former Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren, came under scathing criticism for lifting the ban on the licence of Dana Airlines.
Demuren was late last week removed from office by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
A statement on Demuren’s removal said the President was not pleased with comments by aviation stakeholders on the controversial director general.
The statement did not, however, state the comments Jonathan was not pleased with.
