The Federal Government and the other two tiers of government – states and local governments – have shared N886.402 billion as allocation for the month of February 2013.
A communiqué issued by the Technical Sub-Committee of Federation Account Allocation Committee states that the distributable statutory revenue for the month was N450.263 billion, which was brought to N623.768 billion with an augmentation of N173.505 billion.
Also forming part of the N886.402 billion shared to the three tiers of government was N7.617 billion refunded by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation; N35.549 billion proposed for distribution under the SURE-P; as well as arrears of January 2013 augmentation (December 2012) of N156.761 billion.
According to the communiqué, the gross revenue of N571.676 billion was received for the month, which was lower than the N651.265 billion received in the previous month by N79.589 billion.
This was due to the fact that up to $227.20 million and $108.09 million crude oil revenue was yet to be received.
The money, which is due on March 1, 2013 and April 4, 2013 respectively, will be shared out in subsequent months.
There was also the issue of oil production being hampered by pipeline vandalism at Bonny, Forcados and Brass Terminals.
The communiqué illustrated that for the month of February 2013, the gross revenue available from the Value Added Tax was N62.707 billion as against the N65.291 billion distributed in the preceding month, resulting in a decrease of N2.584 billion.
A breakdown of the allocations for the three tiers of government showed that the Federal Government got N209.856 billion (52.68%) as against the N216.512 billion received in January 2013.
The 36 states got N106.442 billion (26.72%) as against the N109.818 billion received in January while the local governments received N82.062 billion (20.60%) as against N84.665 billion in January.
The sum of N47.484 billion was paid out for the month to the oil producing states as 13 per cent derivation revenue.
N47.432 was paid as 13 per cent derivation revenue in January .
