Lagos police spokesperson, another female officer fight in public
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, is undergoing questioning for allegedly fighting a fellow officer in public.
The despicable act allegedly took place at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja on Friday during President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s surprise visit to the Police College, Ikeja.
It was gathered that Braide, a Deputy superintendent of Police, drove into the premises of the command and a senior police officer, a woman of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, also wanted to park her car in the same space.
Sources said the two officers started quarrelling over the space until it snowballed into a fierce fight.
Police sources at the Command said the two female officers threw caution to the wind and fought openly, tearing each others uniform in the process.
The show of shame attracted a crowd of policemen who intervened and stopped the fight.
But Braide was said to have gone into her car, brought out a knife, with which she threatened to kill the CSP.
A police source, who witnessed the incident, said: “It was a big shame for a PPRO to fight.
“In this case, she showed that she has no respect and she is not disciplined because she is a Deputy superintendent of police and the female officer she fought with is her senior, a chief superintendent of police.
“Ms Braide may be the PPRO but there is discipline and seniority in the Force and she should have respected the CSP.
“They fought to the extent that they tore their uniforms.
“Her breast was exposed and the policemen who had gathered had to cover her up.
“It was a show of shame and she even went to get a knife from her car to stab the CSP.”
It was gathered that the fight provoked condemnation from police officers and it remains the hottest gist among the police at the moment.
The unidentified police officer Braide fought, is said to have petitioned the Commissioner in charge of the Lagos State Police Command, Umar Manko.
Manko is reported to be angry over the incident and has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration to investigate the incident.
A police source added that the probe of the incident will amount to nothing as Braide may be let off the hook due to her alleged closeness to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.
The source said: “You know it was the IGP that brought her to become the Lagos police PRO.
“SHe is a favourite of the IGP and the IGP imposed her on the Lagos CP.
“This is not the first time she is involved in a controversy.
“The last time, her boyfriend was arrested for fraud last year and the victims alleged that she used her office to aid her fraudulent boyfriend.
“That case is still under investigation and she is allowed to parade herself as the image maker.
“She feels she is untouchable because of her closeness to the IGP and we don’t see anything coming out of this her public fight also.”
